Dori began painting in 1977 and has taught decorative painting since 1979.
She is a "traditional" Tole painter, embellishing Pennsylvania Dutch creating a distinct stroke-work style. Whether it is hearts and tulips in oil or roses and columbines in acrylics; whether decorating metal trays, 19th century hall trees or wood decoys, Dori creates decorative works of art.
Her artistic eye and creative mind are most intriqued by unusual cast-aways like rusted milk cans, tattered trunks or dented coffee pots. Dori envisions these as unique one-of-a-kind "treasures" that a little elbow grease and a little love turn into decorative treasures.
