Maritime art in watercolor is the preference of Cathie Johnson. She holds a BA in Art Education from WWU and grew up on Alki Beach. After twenty years of teaching in Oregon, she has returned to the boating friendly environment of Gig Harbor where she is often seen rowing her dinghy.
Her paintings reflect the beauty of the northwest and at times include subject matter that is not always considered traditional. For instance, doing a painting of crab buoys is right up her alley. Wet into wet is her favorite method of working and from this she finesses her work to completion.
Cathie is a member of the Ebb Tide Gallery and Peninsula Art League in Gig Harbor. Her work has won multiple awards in both Oregon and Washington.
